Our team publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, photography, and artwork that relate in some way to grief, loss, or mourning. The term “grief” is open to interpretation. We are looking for powerful, moving works of art that speak to the incredible journey of living after we have lost. We publish new issues every March, June, September, and December.
Submission size guidelines:
Poetry: up to 6 poems
Prose: up to 3,000 words
Art/photography: up to 10 pieces
Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we ask that you allow 3-5 months for our editorial team to review your work. Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Please understand that we are unable to pay contributors at this time.
A note on poetry, art, and photography submissions:
If you are submitting several poems, photos, or art pieces please put them all in one document.
If your work is accepted for publication in The Grief Diaries, we will contact you as soon as possible. We acquire first rights for published work, and upon publication, all rights revert back to you.
A note on submitting previously published work: Please note that we can only accept previously published work that has not been published in an electronic format. We can only republish work that has appeared elsewhere in print.
